Assistant Vice President Entertainment & Sports Underwriting

Position reports to: Vice President Entertainment & Sports - TX                   Job Classification:  Exempt   

Basic Function and Scope

Responsible for the management and supervision of the Entertainment & Sports Underwriting department. Implement policy and procedures, associated with the management of the California office E & S lines of business and the development of new products and programs, program management, marketing and communications focusing on brokers primarily in California.  Work with the VP to ensure that results for each product, program and/or service support overall profitability, growth and retention of business and are consistent with all related underwriting initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

Managing the California branch ensuring effective utilization of monitoring standards to assess product results (i.e., line profitability analysis, quarterly loss trends, utilization/productivity, etc.) and, working with the VP, to devise and implement decisive corrective action as necessary.  Ensure department underwriters adhere to policies and direct the analysis of information in support of ongoing programs and products as well as the development of new products and programs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Risk Management, CPCU designation preferred, with 10+ year’s commercial experience working in an insurance environment required. Consistently sets clear direction by defining goals and priorities. Develops trust through demonstrated personal integrity. Strong understanding of products, financials, objective and service requirements. Takes intelligent risks and exercises solid business judgment. Solid understanding of business objectives to drive bottom-line results. Acts in a decisive manner to achieve appropriate results. Strong strategic thinker and decision-maker. Develops trust through demonstrates personal integrity. Demonstrates strong written and oral communications skills. Ability to draft communications that are clear, concise, complete and professional. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Demonstrates organizational skills while working on multiple projects; Ability to travel 25% of the time in the performance of duties.
