Ken joined BSUM in December of 2009 as President of the Environmental Division and was named president of Berkley Specialty Underwriting Managers in December 2012.  Ken provides leadership gained from experience spanning over 26 years in the P & C specialty lines industry with a strong track record of developing multi - disciplinary teams delivering profitable underwriting results. 

Prior to joining Berkley Specialty, Ken was an Executive Vice President at Zurich General Insurance, where he served as the head of Global Proposition Development.  Ken previously led Zurich's Environmental Business Unit for fourteen years.  He began his career in 1986 at AIG as an underwriter, joining Willis Corroon as Vice President National Sales Manager in 1991.

Ken earned a B.A. in Geology at Fairleigh Dickinson University and an M.S. in Geology from Northern Illinois University.  He attended the Management Development Program at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and the WRBC Executive Management Programs I and II.

Cindy joined Berkley Specialty in August 2004 to establish and become President of our Entertainment & Sports business.  The division specializes in providing insurance to the film, performing arts/theatrical and sports industries and has, over the last ten years, become a market leader in providing insurance products to those industries.

In addition to her responsibilities as President of the Entertainment & Sports Division, and in recognition of her valuable contributions to the organization, Cindy became Executive Vice President of Berkley Specialty Underwriting Managers in 2014. 

Cindy began her insurance career in 1977 with Gulf Insurance Group in Finance.  She moved to Gulf's Commercial Property/Inland Marine underwriting and marketing divisions before transferring to Gulf's Home Office in Dallas in 1988, where she managed the company's entertainment division.

Rick came to Berkley Specialty as Senior Vice President of Operations and Marketing in July of 2004. Prior to joining BSUM he held officer and management positions for Specialty Casualty/Environmental administrative services, product and producer management at Gulf Insurance Group and United Capitol Insurance Company. He brings 40+ years of field and home office underwriting, sales, operations and administration experience to our Environmental and Entertainment/Sports units.

Rick began his career at Fireman’s Fund in 1971, managing branch office sales, underwriting and underwriting program departments across the country. He later held a number of management positions at CNA, CIGNA and Transamerica, where he served as Regional Vice President-Southern California, Regional Vice President Atlantic/Eastern Region, Vice President/Commercial Mass Marketing and Vice President Field Operations.

Elena joined Berkley Specialty in July, 2004.  Prior to joining BSUM Elena was the Assistant Vice President responsible for all actuarial functions for the Specialty Casualty and Environmental Divisions of Gulf Insurance Group and prior to that for United Capitol Insurance Company.  These duties included performing various analysis to determine the profitability of various programs, including loss development factor studies and increased limits factor studies to properly rate the various lines of business.

Prior to joining United Capitol Insurance Company, Elena was with Zurich U.S. for three years where her primary emphasis was on professional and general liability.  Prior to Zurich, she was a consultant for Tillinghast, Towers Perrin for ten years with expertise in professional, pollution, general and automobile liability. 

Elena has a B.A. degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of the South.​

Sherry joined BSUM in August of 2010 as Assistant Vice President - Human Resources and was named Vice President - Human Resources in December 2013. Sherry brings leadership gained from experience spanning over 28 years in the Human Resources and Operations disciplines.

Prior to joining Berkley Specialty, Sherry held Human Resource leadership positions with Komatsu Forklift, Acuity Specialty Products, Shade Allied, TYCO International and Kraft Foods. She also headed up an operations team at TYCO International for 4 years responsible for the P & L of eight production lines in the Absorbent Hygiene division.

Sherry earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Human Resources from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh.  She attended the University of Georgia's Human Resource Management program as well as the Michigan State University School of Labor and Industrial Relations.  Sherry holds a designation of SPHR, is active in the local Society of Human Resources chapter and has held a prior position on the Society of Human Resources board in Appleton, Wisconsin. Sherry has also been a past guest speaker at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh and the Atlanta SHRM chapter meetings.

Pat came to Berkley Specialty in August, 2004.  Prior to joining BSUM Pat was Controller for PC Group, where she was responsible for all financial operations for a group of companies providing ancillary services to the auto insurance markets.  This included financial reporting, reinsurance accounting, accounts payable, collections, and general ledger maintenance.

Pat has over 35 years of experience in finance, 30 in the insurance industry.  She began her industry experience with United Family Life Insurance Company as Financial Reporting manager then moved to the P & C side spending seven years as Director of Financial Reporting at Royal/Sun Alliance where she was responsible for the GAAP and Statutory reporting for ten property and casualty companies.  Pat then assumed full financial responsibilities for Greater Georgia Life Insurance Company as its Controller.

Pat has taught insurance accounting seminars at the Insurance Accounting and Statistical Association (IASA) national level and has served as a textbook reviewer for the insurance accounting textbook published by the Life Office Management Association (LOMA).  She has a B. A. degree in Accounting from the University of Georgia and is a CPA.​

Justin joined Berkley Specialty in April, 2014, bringing with him more than 20 years of IT experience including better than 15 years of broad based, hands on management in systems design and development, implementation and support.  Throughout his career, Justin has exhibited significant success in strategic planning, building performance teams, project management and continuous improvement programs. 

Justin came to BSUM from Torus Specialty Insurance Company where as Chief Information Officer - Americas he, among many other accomplishments, established their eBusiness platforms.

Justin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kean University with a Bachelor of Science degree.  He has been an Industry Speaker of Underwriting Automation and Innovation at ACORD_LOMA 23012 and IASA 2012 and 2013.
